
Gary Bowerman is an Asia-based travel markets, tourism policy and consumer trends analyst, strategy advisor, speaker and media commentator. As Founding Partner of two companies, High-Yield Tourism and Re:Set Strategies, he works with travel destinations and organisations, hotels, tourism providers, consumer brands, investment banks, consulting firms, market research agencies and trends forecasting firms across the globe. He is the Asia Travel Markets Analyst for Phocuswright covering China, North East Asia and South East Asia, and previously worked for the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) and as an Asia Travel, Technology & Consumer Trends Analyst for Mintel.
In 2020, Gary co-founded (and co-hosts) The South East Asia Travel Show, a weekly travel industry podcast with listeners in 115 countries, and produces the weekly Asia Travel Re: Set newsletter, which is read by travel professionals worldwide.
Gary speaks on Asia travel and consumer market issues at global conferences, such as UN Tourism, World Travel Market, ITB Asia, Arabian Travel Market, Skift Asia Forum, Global Tourism Economy Forum, ASEAN Tourism Forum and Halal in Travel Global Summit.
Recent keynotes include Further East (Bali), MG Group (KL), UBS (Hong Kong), Worldline (Barcelona & Phuket), Orange Flags Association (Ancona), the Indonesia Ministry of Tourism (Jakarta) and the Tropical Coastal Cities Forum (Sanya).


Described as “a leading expert on Chinese tourism” (Travel Weekly Asia), his book The New Chinese Traveler: Business Opportunities from the Chinese Travel Revolution was published in 2014 (Palgrave/Springer).
