The history of Aven Hospitality

Explore the history of Aven Hospitality, from the founding of SynXis in 1996 to today’s independent hospitality technology company shaping what’s next.

Aven Hospitality Debuts to Shape the Future of Hospitality Technology

The beginning: SynXis Corporation

SynXis Corporation was founded in 1996, inspired by the idea of simplifying how hotels manage their distribution channels. At the time, hotels struggled with fragmented systems and manual processes. SynXis addressed this challenge by creating the industry’s first true internet-native Central Reservation System (CRS), helping standardize channel management across the hospitality industry.

By 2004, SynXis technology supported nearly 5,000 hotels worldwide and established the company as a trusted and innovative force in hotel technology.

That same year, SynXis acquired hubX, a Boston-based IT consulting company founded in 1998. While working on a project to integrate disconnected hotel systems, hubX identified a critical industry gap: hotels lacked a centralized “information hub” to unify data and streamline system interfaces. This insight led hubX to specialize in fast, flexible system integrations—capabilities that would become foundational to the SynXis ecosystem and differentiate it within the hotel technology space.

The acquisition: Sabre Hospitality Solutions

In early 2005, Sabre Corporation, a global leader in travel technology, signed a purchase agreement to acquire SynXis Corporation for approximately $41 million. The acquisition aimed to expand SynXis’ reach among hotel chains and increase the visibility of SynXis-powered properties across Sabre’s global travel network, Travelocity.

Following the acquisition, SynXis Corporation became Sabre Hospitality Solutions. Over the next 20 years under Sabre’s ownership, the business continued to grow and evolve, with sustained investment in technology, infrastructure, and product expansion. Sabre Hospitality Solutions broadened its capabilities through strategic acquisitions—including E-Site Marketing, Nuvola, Trust, Techsembly, BidStork, and others—allowing the business to better serve hoteliers’ changing needs across distribution, operations, marketing, and guest experience.

Throughout this period, SynXis evolved as the core platform powering the business—a role it continues to play today as the foundation of Aven Hospitality.

Independence: Hospitality Solutions

In April 2025, Sabre Corporation signed a definitive agreement to sell Sabre Hospitality Solutions to TPG, a global alternative asset management firm with a diversified investment portfolio spanning private equity, credit, real estate, and market solutions.

The transaction closed on July 3, 2025, with TPG acquiring Sabre’s Hospitality Solutions business for $1.1 billion. Following the sale, the company temporarily operated under the name Hospitality Solutions while leadership and ownership worked together to define the next chapter of the business as an independent organization.

A new chapter: Aven Hospitality

On January 27, 2026, Hospitality Solutions officially unveiled its new name and brand identity: Aven Hospitality.

Aven Hospitality continues to operate on the proven SynXis platform, building on nearly 30 years of trusted technology, deep industry expertise, and innovation. The new name honors the company’s legacy while reaffirming its commitment to continuous advancement and future-ready hospitality solutions.

Today, Aven Hospitality equips hoteliers around the world to operate like world-class brands. From shopping to staying, guest experiences feel effortless and extraordinary. Behind the scenes, decisions are smarter, operations are faster, and teams work in seamless harmony—all powered by one platform: SynXis.
